Miramar Beach, originaly known as Gasper Dias Beach, located at the confluence of Mandowi River and Arabian sea is the nearest beach to the capital of Goa, Panaji. It is just 3 km from here, which is also a hub for the commercial activities. Fifteen minutes walk along the Dayanand Bandodker Marg riverfront avenue.
Major attractions
Soft sand as silk and sunlight to bask in, palm trees on the rim that sway to the music of air and spiralling waves of sea that lend the atmosphere the gaity and joy synonymous with Goa and Goans. The two kilometer long beach offers itself as a perfect track for that perfect stroll.
Miramar literally translates viewing the sea in Portuguese. Its ideal location and the sea view that it offers makes it a hot destination for foriegn and local tourist alike and that accounts for the crowd here. At night it reflects moonlight in way as if the beach itself is the source of light. The cool breeze at nights gives you a floating sensation. The famous Portuguese fort known as Aguada fort that tryies to peep at the beautiful night life at the beach, is also visible from here. The crowd lis less during this hour of the day so you can find that moments of intimacy and solitude.
Apart from human, various migratory birds also throng towards this coast. A part of their migratory routine Gulls and other birds warm themselves here while their homeland is craving for warmth. The sight of the setting sun is also a crowd puller here.
There is no dearth of hotels and budget accommodations here given its close proximity to Panaji, the state capital.
Climate
The climate is humid and warm, perfect for tan and sunbathing. May witnesse a temprature of aroud 30 degree celcius which is the warmest here and January being the coolest is at around 25 degree celcius.
Best time to visit
The ideal time to visit the beach is from October to May.
Tips:
¤ Trust the lifeguard when he says no. This beach, due to strong undercurrents is not amateur swimmers delight!
¤ Beware of touts and never leave your valuables unattended.
¤ Keep your feet clean and dry to prevent fungal infection.
